Five things you must see when working in Chicago

Five things you must see when working in Chicago

Chicago is our third-largest city and the cultural center of the Midwest. If you’re working in the city and staying in one of our corporate apartments, knowing what to see and do when you’re not working can seriously elevate your stay. We asked our Chicago destination team what they thought the top five things you must see when working in Chicago were to give you some ideas. Here are their suggestions.

Millennium Park

Millennium Park is a center for locals as well as visitors. It is one of the most popular meeting and hangout places when the sun is shining. It is 24.5 acres of urban park located by the Loop. It has concerts, performances, live shows, festivals, dining, the Lurie Garden, the Jay Pritzker Pavilion and of course, Anish Kapoor’s Cloud Gate.

Sometimes it’s just nice to hang out in the park while other times it’s nice to watch a performance, meet friends or have a picnic while watching one of the many performances happening somewhere in the park.

Wrigley Field

No visit to Chicago would be complete without seeing Wrigley Field. Even if you’re not into baseball, the history and cultural significance of this venue makes it worth seeing. Tour Wrigleyville, wander round Friendly Confines and have a bite to eat in one of the many eateries in and around the field. In season, you can catch a game and soak up the atmosphere as the Cubs work their magic on the field.

Food is a big thing at Wrigley Field. It’s more than just hot dogs too. Some of the city’s top chefs rotate through the field offering top quality cuisine to fans and visitors alike.

The Field Museum

The Field Museum is another venue that is as much enjoyed by locals as visitors. Built to house the huge collection compiled for the World’s Columbian Exposition of 1893, this amazing place will take hours to explore fully. With over 350,000 square feet of exhibits spanning millions of years of our history, this is a museum to beat all museums.

From the moment you see Sue, the most complete T-Rex skeleton in the world until you experience a 3D movie, you are going to learn a lot about our history.

Chicago Riverwalk

The Chicago Riverwalk is a way tog et some exercise during your visit while taking in some of the best views of the city. The Chicago Riverwalk follows the Chicago River along its winding path through the city taking in restaurants, bars, parks, places to hang out and enjoy.

There are also boat cruises you can take up and down the river or just spend time in one of the many urban and green spaces along the path.

Willis Tower Skydeck

As long as you don’t mind heights, the Willis Tower Skydeck is a must-see while in Chicago. Set inside what was the Sears Tower, it is 1,454 high and allows public access to the 103rd floor. From there you can see four different states and out to a distance of 50 miles. Time is right, when the weather is clear and you get an unbeatable view of the city.

If you’re brave enough you should try the Ledge. Now famous in its own right, the Ledge is a glass box to the side of the building that provides an all round view, including 1,353 feet down to the ground!

If you’re staying in one of our corporate rentals in Chicago, you now have at least five things to see and do while you’re here. There are hundreds more available but these should give you a start!
